The Crazies
I saw The Crazies with my awesome friend Juan yesterday. I liked it, I think it was a good remake and loved the parts involving gore or blood, I’m a sucker for those (no pun intended). I wanted to see this movie for a while, although it’s not a zombie movie per se, it is very similar. So, if you enjoy zombie movies I think you’ll like this one.
Timothy Olyphant is the lead role in this movie, and if you know me well, you comprehend that I love that man. So, it was very nice watching him on the big screen again, I last saw him in A Perfect Getaway so I was having withdrawals from watching him, hehe.
Anyways, the performances by the actors were pretty good, considering the genre of the movie. The action/confrontation sequences were entertaining, and the gore presented was pretty cool. The run time of the movie was 1:41, which I think is perfect for these kinds of movies. Not too short, not too long. I like when they don’t extend the run time and add scenes that don’t really contribute to the plot, and usually what they do is bore you. I don’t think this movie had that.
The plot of the movie, for those of you who don’t know what is it about:
David Dutten is sheriff of Ogden Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun, ready to kill. Another man burns down his own house-after locking his wife and young son in a closet inside. Within days, the town has transformed into a sickening asylum; people who days ago lived quiet, unremarkable lives have now become depraved, blood-thirsty killers, hiding in the darkness with guns and knives. The few still sane find themselves trapped: Sheriff Dutten (Timothy Olyphant); his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson), Dutten’s deputy and right-hand man. Forced to band together, an ordinary night becomes a horrifying struggle for survival as they do their best to get out of town alive.
Have you seen ‘The Crazies’ or do you plan to see it? If you’ve seen it, did you like it?

Ooo, I’ve seen the previews for this and it looks pretty good :D I really want to go see it soon, but I have a feeling I’ll just end up covering my eyes half of the time since I’m horrible with suspense and gore.

It was a pleasure seeing it with you! :) I thought the movie was very good, although it reused some cliche moments more than once to gain that “oh crap!” factor, referring to whenever an infected would show up on the background of the scene as the people were unaware of their presence.
The acting was overall good, the whole movie was based around crazy people acting well… crazy, and it got the job done.
I would recommend it to any horror/suspense fan looking for a decent flick to watch. :)
