Berkley, 18, becomes supermodel after being discovered on TikTok
BERKLEY, Michigan (FOX 2) – Like many teens during the pandemic lockdown, Sammy Pandolfi was making TikTok videos – then a professional agency found out.
“I was doing TikTok videos back then, it’s not something I do a lot anymore,” Sammy Pandolfi said.
The Berkley teenager has no time after becoming a male supermodel and working for the biggest names in the fashion industry.
It was one of his TikTok videos and Sammy’s unique look that caught the eye of a talent scout from Management of soul artists from New York.
“They contacted me on Instagram through a direct message at first – I was like, this can’t be real,” he said.
Sammy thought it was a scam, but he decided to follow through anyway, a decision that changed his life.
“It’s wild, it went from nothing to everything,” he said.
The 18-year-old went from playing video games for cash, working a shoe store and delivering for DoorDash to modeling Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring / Summer collection and parading on the podium in Venice, Italy. This is something unheard of for emerging models.
“It was amazing, it was absolutely amazing,” he said. “I made friends that I will have for the rest of my life and the work was really fun.
“Even though we’re in hot weather wearing clothes that I’m not used to wearing, but it was nice with the people around me and the opportunity itself,” Sammy said.
His parents, who flip through young photos of their wide-eyed baby boy, couldn’t be prouder.
“For me the most important thing is that he stays true to who he is, and stays grounded and real to who he is – and so far he has,” said mum Stephanie Pandolfi.
FOX 2: “Dad, is your son a model?”
“He is, we feel very lucky and lucky,” said Dave Pandolfi.
Sammy Pandolfi is packing his bags now to travel to New York for Fashion Week where he will model collections for other luxury designers.
There’s no doubt her rise to fashion fame was swift, but Sammy says her family will always come first.
“Whatever happens to me, however notoriety I have on the internet in the years to come, ultimately I will continue to value those who are close to me now,” he said. .
