Fantastic Father’s Day forecast; another heat wave sets in
It’s another pleasant morning across the Hoosier State. Temperatures are mild this morning and have dipped into the 50s. Dew points are still hovering in the 40s making it quite comfortable!
The weather looks great for the June 19 events unfolding today. You’ll want to get out there and enjoy the nice feeling while it lasts! Highs will be seasonal in the afternoon and will reach the lower 80s.
Another heat wave
Temperatures will rise rapidly as the cool, more comfortable air mass slides east from the Ohio Valley. Another ridge moves in above us mid-week allowing the heat and humidity to soar.
Tuesday is perhaps the hottest of the year, with highs reaching the mid-90s. Heat indices above 100° are likely next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Chances of rain remain low
The sites are starting to show signs of stress with the lack of rainfall we have had this month. Only 1.15″ of rain has been recorded in Indianapolis since June 1. The total is 1.80″ below average so far.
Nor are there many opportunities to make up for the rainfall deficit. There is only one day when the chances of a storm are possible and that falls on Wednesday. A weak boundary will slide over the Midwest bringing erratic thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures and humidity will drop slightly behind the rain wave.
